• Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a town in which two towns were merged into one. The railroad station name is merged name of Garmisch-Partenkirchen station, and it exists at the center of two towns. It started to be developed as a town of the sightseeing after this railway opened in 1889 between Munich and Garmisch. Both towns were merged in 1935 and became Garmisch-Partenkirchen Town.

• Garmisch is a town where the fourth Olympic Winter Games in 1936 was held. This town is crowded as mountain resort or sights, and being visited by a lot of people now. Garmisch-Partenkirchen of above sea level 720m is cool in summer, and it crowds all the year around with the tourist in hiking and climbing mountains in summer and skiing in winter around Zugspitze.

• The mountain railway goes to Zugspitze (2,962m), the highest mountain in Germany, from this town. The station of the mountain railway is on the other side of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen station. It is Zugspitz train station. It translates into Zug=train spitze=sharp "Railway mountain."

• Ludwig street as a main street is a beautiful town where a big, peculiar fresco wall paintings are drawn in the face of each house. It is a walking distance from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen station and it is a snug town. It is seen by the map scale as about 500m in the main street of Ludwig which is crowded with the restaurant etc. Panoramic view of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Zugspitze is easy to understand the location.

• The hotel where we stayed is a big hotel of "Hotel Mercure Garmisch-Partenkirchen" with 117 guest rooms, and the hotel charges was 75 Euro. It is the end of Ludwig street of north because of defense of the landscape as this is a big hotel.
